J. W. Centers Passes Away Here Saturday
     J. W. Centers, 81, died at 2 o’clock yesterday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. W. H. Simmons, 714 Seventh avenue, after an illness of two months. He came here about one year ago from Missouri, where he spent practically all of his life.
Surviving are four daughters, and three sons: Mrs. W. H. Simmons; Mrs. C P. Anderson, Grinnell, Iowa; Mrs. E P. Crawford, Livonia, Mo.; Mrs. Fred Leonard, Weippe; Alva Centers, Yakima; Eastel Centers, Portland, and Ira Centers, Weippe.
Interment will be at Weippe this afternoon at 2 o’clock.
Note from transcriber: There were some errors in the original obituary. James Wesley Centers moved from Missouri to Weippe in 1904. He moved to Lewiston from Weippe in about 1931 following the death of his wife, Martha. His son’s name was Estel, not Eastel. James was my great-grandfather.
