Margaret D. Abell, 89, Elk River

     Margaret D. Abell, a long-time Elk River resident, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. She was 89. Margaret was born March 19, 1922, at Elk River to George and Nora Ann Martin Kreisher.
     She grew up and attended school in Elk River.
     She and Clayborn Joseph (CJ) Abell were married in Lewiston Dec. 29, 1939. They made their home in Elk River where she was a homemaker.
     Margaret was an active member of the Elk River Community Church, the Syringa Club, enjoyed crocheting, baking and cooking, working crossword puzzles and playing cards.
     CJ died in 1993, and she continued to make her home in Elk River until moving to Wedgwood Terrace in Lewiston about three years ago.
     In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, a grandson, Robert Abell Jr. in 2009. Surviving are her two sons and a daughter-in-law; and her daughter. She also leaves six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; along with her two brothers and a sister-in-law; and a sister.
     A memorial service will be conducted in September, when she will be buried next to CJ at the Three Pines Cemetery in Elk River.
     The family suggests memorials be made to the Syringa Club, Elk River, ID 83827.

A graveside service for Margaret D. Abell will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sept. 18 at Three Pines Cemetery in Elk River. A covered-dish dinner will follow at the Elk River Community Center. She died July 26 at Lewiston. Short’s Funeral Chapel of Moscow is in charge of arrangements.
