Ada (Orr) Knutson with daughter Leatha in 1918 The following is a list of births and stillbirths in and around Clearwater County. The area now known as Clearwater County at one time was in Idaho Territory. It later became known as Shoshone County and Nez Perce County. From 1861 to Dec, 1904 it was known as Shoshone County, from Dec, 1904 to Feb 27, 1911 it was known as Nez Perce County. This list was taken from research into Idaho State, Shoshone County, Nez Perce County and Clearwater County birth records. Some information was obtained from census records. It comprises the area now known as Clearwater County and extends beyond its boundaries in some cases. It covers births up to 1917 and stillbirths up to 1967. It is interesting to know the first white child born in each community so I have listed them here in chronologic order. 1864, May, in Pierce, Shoshone County, the first recorded birth was of Alice Fraser. Her parents are David and Josephina (Obregon) Fraser.
