William (Bill) Weaver, 78, Lewiston

     William (Bill) Weaver, 78, of Lewiston, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012.
     Bill was born Nov. 26, 1933, to Jack and Alta Weaver, in Orofino. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 and was stationed at Norfolk, Va. He served aboard the USS Chipola, and while there he met his wife of 57 years. After the military they lived in various towns around the Northwest, including Elk River, where he worked in the logging industry, and eventually moved to Lewiston in 1971. He then drove a chip truck and later went into construction.
     He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed bowling and golfing.
     He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Lou Campbell, and son Bill. Bill is survived by his wife; three sons; a daughter; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
     A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Bridges Community Church, 2102 Eighth St., Lewiston. A covered-dish dinner will follow at Guardian Angel Homes, 2221 Vineyard Ave. in Lewiston.
