Arthur L. (Rusty) Russell

     Arthur L. (Rusty) Russell, 93, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Walla Walla, where he was a resident since 2001.
     Rusty was born Aug. 5, 1918, to Arthur Cyrus and Iva Mable Briggs Russell in Moose Lake, Minn. He lived in the Kooskia area and in Clarkston, Pomeroy, Anatone and Asotin. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service, the railroad, in logging and farm work as well as the Salvation Army.
     Rusty married Aug. 29, 1939, in Orofino. He was a very friendly person who loved God. He enjoyed playing his harmonica and bingo, listening to music and attending church. He was a member of the Walla Walla Alliance Church. He was also a volunteer at the VA hospital.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Elna; and his sister, Bertha. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law; four grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a very special person in his life who was like a son to him.
     The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Walla Walla Alliance Church, 902 S. Howard St. The Rev. Steve Morris will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Alliance Church through Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
     Rusty's family wishes to express gratitude to his doctor and all the staff at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center for their loving care. He had many friends there.
