Lola A. Preston, 85

Lola A. Preston passed away from the natural causes of age Nov. 28, 2011, at Brookside Landing in Orofino.
Lola was born to John H. Albers and Beuna Miller Albers July 16, 1926, in Russell, Idaho (a former community near Nezperce). She attended grade school at Russell and later moved with her family to Forest Grove, Ore., where she attended and graduated from Forest Grove High School.
Lola married Feb. 10, 1946. They made their home raising two children and farming near Nezperce. They divorced in 1968. She married George Preston Feb. 11, 1977, and they made their home in Lewiston until his death in 2006. In 2008, she became a resident at the very caring assisted living facility Brookside Landing in Orofino.
Lola persevered through life as a young 26-year-old mother of two children and after suffering a debilitating stroke. She was recently described in a very complimentary statement as, "She is the most stubborn and independent woman I have known." Her farming background extended to her love of flower gardening, especially while she lived in Lewiston. Other interests included many socials, card parties and service organizations. She was a proud member and past officer of both Eastern Star and P.E.O.
Lola is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; one son; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews whom she greatly loved and appreciated. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Preston; four brothers; and one sister.
By previous agreement with her late husband, George, and by her request, there shall be no service. Memorials may be sent to P.E.O., 108 Dworshak Drive, Orofino, ID 83544.
