Carl Junior Messelt

     Carl Junior Messelt passed away March 9, 2012, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
     Carl was born Oct. 12, 1930, to Carl J. and Ella Mae (Potter) Messelt in Black River Falls, Wis. He was raised on a Wisconsin dairy farm that is now in its fourth generation ownership.
     Immediately after high school in 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was soon involved in the Korean War. On his return from Korea he was stationed at Fort Ord, Calif., where he met his wife of 59 years. He married Sept. 6, 1952, and lived in Newhall, Calif., until his retirement in 1993.
     He worked in aircraft, California oil fields, aerospace and was a reserve deputy for Los Angeles County sheriff's department. He retired from Lockheed in 1993, moving for retirement first to Orofino and then Lewiston in 1996.
     Carl is survived by his wife; son; daughter; grandson; granddaughter; and many loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother Garth.
     Interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Eternal Valley in Newhall, Calif. Arrangements in Lewiston are being made by Mountain View Funeral Home.
     One of Carl's favorite organizations currently is the Wounded Warriors project. Donations may be made to them, Orchards Community Church or a favorite charity.
