Melvin Lloyd Chambers, 69, Orofino

     Melvin Lloyd Chambers passed away in the arms of his wife Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012. He was 69.
     He lived in Orofino for the past 12 years, after retiring from the Salinas City Fire Department in California.
     Lloyd was born in North Lawrence, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army for three years.
     After making his way to Salinas, he attended Hartnell Community College and received his degree in Fire Science. Lloyd was always known for his ready smile and dedication to firefighting.
     After retiring from the fire department Lloyd and his wife moved to King City, Calif., where they enjoyed the wildlife on their 200 acres. Lloyd loved to ride around the property in his '43 Jeep with his dogs always with him.
     Lloyd enjoyed hunting in Idaho for years. After moving to Idaho, Lloyd loved fishing on the Clearwater River. He also loved being an integral part of the Clearwater Humane Society. Every dog and cat responded to his gentle and kind spirit.
     Lloyd is survived by his wife of 33 years; his five sons; his sister; and two nephews.
     Cremation has taken place.
     Lloyd's wish was that any donations in his memory be directed to: Clearwater Humane Society, P.O. Box 2063, Orofino, ID 83544.
